Since I was a child, I’ve always gained great peace and solace from trees.  I love to hike in the woods and have been doing so most days the last few months to break things up a bit during my new on-line teaching adventure.

In the beginning of COVID I was struggling with a number of things and one day I looked out my window and saw my lovely maple tree (Tree 1).  I felt like she was looking right at me with very reassuring eyes, and in that moment I was overtaken by a deep sense of calm. Something inside me shifted and I had a completely new outlook afterwards.  Several days later I was out riding my bike and stopped for a water break, looked up and saw this second tree staring at me (Tree 2)!  I was so filled with joy that I laughed out loud.  Another set of eyes!  Yes, indeed, the eyes and souls of nature are watching out for us.   I’m reminded that we always have the opportunity to look back and smile and feel grateful for their wonderful presence.
